why in world Evanescence is been called gothic metal band they look like regular pop..?

What exactly does their appearance have anything to do with their sound? A band’s appearance is not what designates their genre.

Listen to their first cd they are sooo far away from pop. Pop music is horrible, Evanescence is not.

there last album may not sound as gothic as night wish but it still falles under the goth category
it is like saying ac/dc aint as hard as slipknot so they are not rock
thats wrong it’s all rock so it is gothic but on a softe side i guess

i dont know how people get gothic metal, theyre barely rock music. i guess theyre percieved by people as gothic because she has black hair and the music is depressing. thats only what most of the prissy teenage mtv crowd thinks, because thats probably the heaviest thing that has been played on trl. besides avenged sevenfold, which they call "metal". ha.

The music is gothic rock, but Amy Lee sounds like a pop singer. I mainly like the music rather than the vocals. Amy’s vocals in Call Me When You’re Sober were really cheesy, fake and poppy. The backing music was great though. What Amy Lee has done has dyed her hair black and put some eyeliner on and claimed she was different.
If you think about it, she’s no different than a pop singer, because she doesn’t have any power in her voice.
