Want to add a concrete “speed-bump” on concrete driveway to keep water from flowing into garage. Can I?
Posted on February 8th, 2010 by The Militia in Speed MetalI had a metal water dam there, but the adhesive keeps failing and the water gets in past the garage door. Can I use a bag of quick dry cement?

It will bust up driving across it.

It can be done, but it’s not so easy a matter as forming one of a "…bag of quick dry cement."
Such a "speed-bump" of concrete has to be done by someone who is a concrete professional in order to design its shape, size, reinforcement, and bonding to the concrete of the driveway, OR as the previous answer stated it will just disintegrate.

I "had" the same problem, rented a concrete chop saw,cut 4" wide trough, anchored angle iron on edge with metal (galvanized) grating, now water dosen’t come in.runoff is directed to 4" black drain pipe( with holes in pipe)

it can be done before pouring new concrete I would drill holes and insert re-bar so the new concrete doesn’t move and the old concrete has to be etched before you pour the etching can be bought at any building suppy

If you still have the metal water dam I would see if its possible to use concrete screws to anchor it in place. Maybe use a garage door weather strip or a butyl rubber sealant under it to create a seal so the water doesn’t seep under it into the garage.
Just a thought
