A young woman named Helen Stoner went to Sherlock Holmes’ office to ask him if he could investigate her sister dead.
When her stepfather Dr. Roylott knew that Helen was asked to marry with her friend of childhood he required her to move to the room where her sister Julia had died in suspicious circumstances while some repairs were done to her room.
Helen said to Holmes this event and told him that her sister died in a locked bedroom with no apparent signs of violence . She started describing the room: there was a strange bell cord over the bed and a ventilator which only connected with another room, her stepfather’s room. She also said that when her sister died she heard a whistle and sound of metal.
One night, Holmes and Watson sneak in Helen’s room without Dr. Roylott’s knowledge. They heard the same whistle that Julia listened at the moment of her death suddenly they saw a poisonous snake showing through the ventilator so Holmes attacked it with a stick and drove it back through the ventilator.
They deduced that the snaked had been sent to Julia’s room by Dr. Roylott to murdered Helen. So They knew that this snake had killed Julia. When they entered to Dr. Roylott’s room they discovered he was died. The snake had attacked him.
