Cradle of Filth is Symphonic Black Metal/Gothic Metal but people classified them real Black Metal which is Bullshit and Extreme Metal which I believe it is.

take the song Nymphetamine for example, the keyboards, the deep vocals from the dude, the kind of dark feeling. I would would consider that goth metal about 90%. their image is pretty goth/metal too not that it matters. I have heard ignorants call them emo metal too so these days will all the mucical illiterates who knows? (nothing personal toward anyone)

I try not to get hung up on classifications beyond "good" and "bad". CoF fits into the latter more often than not.

They are an extreme metal band as you said, I don't know where you got that information about them being goth. I searched many websites to check what their label is (subgenre). And all of them says they are an extreme metal band.

Well, they've changed a lot from their older stuff to Nymphetamine. Nymphetamine is more on the gothic end, with the girl's singing, and on Thornography, most songs are very gothic-sounding.
